Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge was created as a winter rest stop for migratory birds. The Refuge was established in 1938 by insert name here. The 34,500 acre refuge hosts 47 types of mammals, 74 types of reptiles and amphibians, 115 types of fish and 285 types of birds. These numbers include 10 federally listed endangered or threatened species.
